Starbuck Excavation delivered civil and ground preparation works at Mentone Grammar’s Bayview campus, supporting the construction of a new carpark and associated infrastructure.

Capability Outcome
This project highlights Starbuck Excavation’s ability to deliver civil works and ground preparation, including rectification and compaction to Level 1 standard.

The Starbuck Group commenced works on this project in early 2022, delivering bulk earthworks while working within a sensitive environmental area. A key consideration throughout the project was the protection of a native frog habitat, with the existing pond used for breeding purposes requiring careful management during all stages of works.

Our scope included the importation of approximately 100,000m³ of compactible fill, sourced from Starbuck projects across Victoria, for the construction of batters surrounding the pond. We also delivered piling pad construction as part of the overall works.

This project involved the construction of a surcharge mound to assess ground conditions at a former landfill site, supporting future development of the land.

The Starbuck Group was responsible for constructing a piling pad to enable the installation of approximately 1,000 wick drains, improving ground stability and drainage. Our scope also included the supply and placement of 5,000 tonnes of crushed rock and 75,000m³ of compactible fill under Level 1 supervision.

All works were completed within a three-month programme, achieving required compaction standards and demonstrating our ability to deliver efficiently on technically challenging sites.

The Starbuck Group employed a multifaceted approach in undertaking bulk earthworks for the reestablishment of the dam. Our focus was on restoring both its structural integrity and functionality. Through careful excavation, embankment construction, and land grading, we ensured the successful restoration of the dam, enhancing its resilience and functionality.

This project spanned across multiple sites in Rural Victoria, with the Starbuck Group using a systematic approach to replace the existing culverts with upgraded ones. Through careful excavation and precise construction techniques, we ensured that the new culverts were seamlessly integrated into the existing infrastructure, improving water flow and overall structural integrity. By leveraging our expertise and attention to detail, we not only upgraded the culverts but also contributed to the long-term sustainability of the surrounding environment and transportation networks.
